Lindos Aqua Terra Review: A Honeymoon Stay in Rhodes Greece
This October, we were grateful to spend a week in Rhodes, Greece, as part of our honeymoon. If you’ve read my blog before, you’ll know that we tend to be pretty active travelers, the kind who get itchy feet even on holiday. But after eloping in the Austrian Alps the week before, we knew we wanted a stay that would help us slow down. Beach days, reading our books, sipping freddo cappuccinos, and romanticizing our new life together- that kind of thing.
Enter Lindos Aqua Terra in Rhodes, Greece, a boutique beachfront hotel tucked along Vlicha Bay.
Maybe it was the scent of citrus and rosemary drifting through the property, or the family of orange kittens curled up outside, but by the time we’d checked in and settled onto our balcony overlooking the Aegean, our shoulders had dropped, and we found ourselves saying, “Wow, life is good!”
In this guide, I’m sharing my honest review of Lindos Aqua Terra, from the rooms and beachfront location to the little details that made our stay special. I’ll also share a few favorite places to eat and things to do in Rhodes beyond the hotel, in case you’d like to mix beach days with a little island exploring.
Disclosure: Parts of our stay were gifted as part of a collaboration with Lindos Aqua Terra. As always, all thoughts, words, and photos reflect my honest experience.
From Munich to Vlicha Bay
After a quick 2.5-hour direct flight from Munich, we touched down in Rhodes and picked up our rental car. The island is relatively easy to explore by car, making it possible to see quite a bit without spending hours on the road. Public buses connect many of the main destinations, but we found having our own car a convenient way to explore at our own pace. Taxis are another option, although the costs can add up if you plan to venture around the island. Getting to and from the airport can also be very expensive.
After driving along the east coast, we arrived at Lindos Aqua Terra, tucked along beautiful Vlicha Bay.
There are several other hotels and resorts along the bay, but Aqua Terra had the relaxed feel we were looking for. It’s close enough to Lindos to spend an afternoon exploring the historic village and its famous Acropolis, or to head out for dinner, but far enough removed to feel like a retreat from the busier tourist areas.
Inside Lindos Aqua Terra: Beach, Breakfast, and Beyond
Design-wise, Lindos Aqua Terra strikes that stylish balance between contemporary Mediterranean minimalism and boho chic. With citrus and olive trees, lavender bushes, and rosemary plants dotted around the property, it's a treat for the senses, too. Earthy tones, natural wood textures, and light-filled spaces complement the ocean breeze and sparkling blue water, creating an atmosphere that feels connected to its surroundings.
And although it's a four-star hotel, nothing feels overly formal or fussy. The atmosphere is luxurious, but the comfort is barefoot. Trust me, you'll want to kick off your shoes and stay awhile.
And speaking of going barefoot, the walk to the beach takes a mere minute. No need to get in the car and drive anywhere. You’ve already arrived! Lindos Aqua Terra provides guests with beach beds, umbrellas, and towels, making it all too easy to spend an entire day by the water. If you’re feeling hungry or thirsty, you can also order a cocktail (I highly recommend the Terra Sour), coffee, or a snack right to your beach bed. The same goes for the pool.
Breakfast was another highlight. Served each morning in the open-air dining area, the buffet offered everything from sweet treats and savory bites to fresh juices and plenty of coffee. Most mornings, we set aside a couple of hours to enjoy breakfast in the sunshine. There’s no need to rush when you’re on island time, after all. The one thing I’d have loved to see was a little more traditional Greek food on the buffet. That said, we had plenty of fun making up for it by discovering local bakeries and tavernas beyond the hotel bubble - more on that later!
Which Room Should You Book?
For most of our week, we stayed in the Elite Aqua View room, a cozy 30-square-meter space for two overlooking the Aegean Sea. The bed was soooo comfortable, and on our first evening, we arrived to find it decorated honeymoon-style. I finally got my towel swan moment! The team also gifted us a bottle of sparkling rosé, chocolates, and a congratulations sign; we felt very seen and celebrated.
Floor-to-ceiling windows filled the room with natural light, while the furnished private balcony was a lovely spot for an afternoon coffee, a board game, or simply enjoying the view. The room also came with the essentials, including a Nespresso machine, quality toiletries, and complimentary bottled water replenished daily.
If you’re after a little more space or privacy, the hotel’s private suites are worth considering, too. On our final evening in Rhodes, we were upgraded to the Olive Suite with Private Pool. With its own pool and olive garden, it felt like a little hideaway within the hotel and a pretty dreamy way to wrap up our honeymoon.
Wellness and Adventures at Lindos Aqua Terra
Apart from eating our weight in breakfast buffet and lounging poolside, Lindos Aqua Terra also offers some lovely wellness options at its sister hotels just up the hill, Lindos Mare and Lindos Blu. We spent one evening playing tennis (€10 per hour) and another morning at the gym, which was a nice way to balance out all that relaxing. There were also yoga sessions a few times throughout the week, and I joined one on the terrace overlooking the sea. Movement with a view? Yes, please!
The hotel also has a small spa, although we didn’t get the chance to try it ourselves. If you’re in the mood for a little extra pampering, it could be a lovely addition to your stay.
The team can also help arrange excursions around Rhodes, including boat trips. We booked a full-day sailing trip that included round-trip transport from the hotel, plus drinks and lunch on board. As luck would have it, the other guests cancelled, so we ended up with a private sailing trip just the two of us. Talk about honeymoon luxury!
One of the highlights of the trip was a two-hour swimming stop in Navarone Bay, where the water was the most gorgeous shade of turquoise, crystal clear, and honestly some of the prettiest water I’ve ever seen. Add a few glasses of wine and a whole lot of sunshine, and the magic really set in. Thank you, Yara Yachting and crew, for the incredible experience!
Exploring Rhodes beyond the hotel
Rhodes is surprisingly varied, from popular beaches on the east coast to the wilder, quieter landscapes in the west. If you’re happy to rent a car and explore, here are a few spots worth adding to your itinerary.
Prasonisi Beach: Located at the southernmost tip of Rhodes, Prasonisi is known as the meeting point of the Aegean and Mediterranean seas. It’s a popular spot for kitesurfing and windsurfing, and watching the surfers out on the water was pretty impressive in itself.
Monolithos Castle at sunset: Head to the west coast for a different side of Rhodes. It feels wilder and more rugged, and a little further removed from the busier tourist areas. The ruins of Monolithos Castle sit high on a rocky outcrop, making it a beautiful spot to watch the landscape change color as the sun goes down.
Emponas and Koskinou: If you’re after a taste of village life, these two places are worth a visit. Emponas is known for its local wine production, while Koskinou is famous for its colorful houses and streets, with plenty of photo opportunities. And again, the cats!
Where to Eat in Rhodes: Greek Tavernas and Bakeries
Of course, visiting Rhodes also meant doing plenty of eating, and we found a few spots that deserve a place on your list. A big shoutout to Eleni from Lindos Aqua Terra for the incredible recommendations; we probably wouldn’t have found these places without you! <3
We especially loved Alli Fasa 1907 in Kalathos (just a 5 minute drive from the hotel), a family-run traditional Greek taverna specializing in meze, or small plates made for sharing. We ordered Greek salad, pita, all sorts of dips, meatballs, and feta wrapped in filo pastry (soooo good), just to name a few. In fact, we loved it so much that we went back a second time to try even more dishes.
The friendly service was great, too, although the local cats were arguably just as memorable. A few furry visitors were always nearby, hoping for any scraps that happened to fall to the floor. Looking at you, Sneaky! The cats in Greece really are something else.
I’d also highly recommend Patriko in the small village called Lardos if you’re looking for another traditional taverna to add to your itinerary. Patriko means “the family home” in Greek, and you can expect to feel right at home here.
And then there were the bakeries. Greek pastries quickly became part of our day trips, especially bougatsa, a flaky pastry filled with sweet custard and topped with cinnamon. Pair that with a freddo cappuccino (an iced Greek coffee I could happily drink every day), and you’ve got yourself a pretty perfect holiday treat. I guess it’s the foodie in me, but some of my favorite memories from this trip were the simplest ones: a good coffee, something sweet, and absolutely nowhere we needed to be.
Final Thoughts on Rhodes & Lindos Aqua Terra
Spending a week at Lindos Aqua Terra was a lovely way to unwind after both of our weddings (!) this year. With its beautiful beachfront location, comfortable rooms, and relaxed atmosphere, it was the perfect place to slow down, soak up the Greek sunshine, and enjoy some much-needed time together. If your idea of a Greek island holiday is long beach days, poolside lounging, and dinner just steps from your room, I’d definitely recommend checking it out. A big thank you to the whole team for their hospitality throughout our stay!
Beyond the hotel, our time in Rhodes also got me thinking about the kind of travel experiences I want to seek out in the future. While the island has plenty of beautiful spots, seeing how busy some of its most popular areas have become was a reminder of the challenges that come with overtourism, even in places as beautiful as Greece.
It's something I’m becoming more conscious of as a traveler. I don't think responsible travel has to mean giving up beautiful destinations or the experiences we love. For me, it’s about being a little more intentional: supporting locally owned restaurants, exploring beyond the busiest hotspots, and making time to appreciate the communities and landscapes that make a place special.
I'd love to explore more of the Greek islands in the future, perhaps by sailboat and at a slower pace, discovering some quieter corners along the way. Because sometimes, the best part of traveling isn't ticking off every must-see spot, but finding a way to experience a place that feels a little more connected to it.
I hope this honest guide helps you decide whether Rhodes and Lindos Aqua Terra are the right fit for your next Greek adventure. Until next time! 🇬🇷
